Who are we ? A non profit foundation dedicated to raising awareness of Breast Cancer particularly amongst our youth who often feel invincible.
Look at the photo above...statistics suggest that one of these girls will develop Breast Cancer in her lifetime. We aim to improve those odds.
We have purchased a stunning new Resolute Racing rowing shell, painted her pink and christened her “One in Eight”, reflecting both the awful incidence of this disease and how many rowers there are in her. The boat is proudly raced by the Varsity girls of Cape Cod Rowing and is very visible at regattas throughout New England including the Head of the Charles Regatta, Textile River Regatta, MA Public Schools regatta and the New Hampshire Championships Regatta.
Cape Cod Rowing even hosts an annual “One in Eight” regatta attended by hundreds of area youth where special attention is drawn to our cause.
We know we cannot save everyone and it is unlikely that our efforts will find a cure. But we do know that by educating young women and making them aware of choices they can make including the foods they eat, make-up they wear and to be more aware in general of their health, environs and screening options then we can make a real difference to help to keep this deadly disease at bay.
After all, perhaps prevention is the best cure of all.
